Thoughts on my hubby

27 years ago was the summer before my senior year in high school and I went for a walk that would change my life forever.  I just wanted to go for a late-night walk in my little town with a friend and at our county park was a teenage man himself just sitting in his car listening to music while his parents fished.  Well, my friend and I decided to talk to that man about his stereo I did not think anything of it except that another redneck moron from my town.  See I was wearing a black trench coat, all black clothes (probable a metal band shirt), black nails, and possible black lipstick in a little town so I was the oddity.  That man decided right then he wanted to marry me.  Well, a couple weeks later we met up again and hung out then started dating.  That man is my husband our relationship has not always been the easiest as I know I am a strong-willed different kind of woman and he came from a very toxic life but that is his story, not mine.  Any we broke up on and off for years even had a son together during that time but when our son was 3 we got married.  I will say that man is the strongest man I know he never was intimidated by knowledge or at times earning more than him.  He has seen me grow as a human and encouraged me when others around me kept trying to fit me into their mold.  Our relationship is stronger today than it was when we first got married has it always been easy oh no way but has it been worth it yes.  I watch that man daily go to a physically tiring job just to support our family so I don't have to work.  He has supported me even when I worked one of the worst jobs I have had which should have been one of my best.  Sat with me while I did my first security job at a dangerous job (he had permission from my bosses).  When I was working would bring me coffee or food. Even encourages me now that I am a stay-at-home mom. Is my biggest supporter and advocate for my food allergy that most people think is just a fad (spend a day in my body when I have gluten I don't think most would last a day).  Encourages me on my weight loss journey (quick update no longer obese just overweight now and out of the 200's) while helping me keep my head solid. I know some see me as a witch or a quiet mouse but with my man, I am a lion so don't make me mad.   I could not have asked for a better partner in life.  I pray our 4 sons to be as solid of men as their dad is.  I know no one will read this but I just wanted to put it out there.

Am I an Introvert or something else.

Interesting thought I have been rattling in my head.  I will admit I have always been an introvert but I was a more outgoing one until 1997/98.  Why those years?  Well, I was being stalked in my little town of around 1600 people.  I would have someone calling my home knowing exactly when I walked in my door or went to bed to harass me all night.  They would also call my parent's house or even a couple of friends houses as soon as I walked in the door.  It never happened to them until I would walk thru the door.  At this point in time in my hometown had no police except one sheriff who lived there (now they have none) and no way of tracing phone calls.  I was a single mom at the time lving in a really bad one bedroom trailer that should have been condemned.  So I would stay with parents a lot as my place was not safe and they would even call my parents home mainly when they knew my dad was not home.  It also did not help that I had a car that leaked oil so bad that you could follow me by my trail of oil I left behind. When I moved to the bigger local town of 20,000 people then the calls stopped.   So it was someone in my small hometown.  I still don't know who it was have a few ideas but cannot confirm any of them. Over the years I still go there and have had a few bad incidents to were still a mystery to me.  Once in 1999, I had my tire stabbed in the sidewall with a knife (the police cadets that helped me change it found it and the tire store agreed it was a knife).  My husband and our children were once followed and chased in the woods behind that town that is a very long and weird story.   And we have had some issues at our home that made us think that somoeone has been watching our house until we put up security cameras.

I know you are asking yourself why are you bringing this all up after 20 years.  Well, I want people to know and understand stalking changing a person mentally.  I keep my head down way more than I used as I am still scared that whoever it was will come back into my life as I don't live very far from my hometown.  I know I am a introvert and a hard person to get to know but some of that is due to the stalking.  But some of that is it seems like people really don't want to get to know me if they did they would find out that once I am friends with someone I am loyal.  Also if you think my outfits are getting on the weird side because you were more used to my dressed down look well sorry that was not me that style actually depressed me.  But due to my stalker and other reasons, I just tried to be considered more normal but husband said no that is not you it is making you depressed.  So now you will see me with a in progress spiked leather jacket, boots, skulls, spikes, crosses, lots of black and maybe one day different colored hair (right now no money to do it).  My clothes have not changed who I am on the inside I am still a God fearing Christian women, wife and mom who just does not look like the average women in my town.  I am happier not trying to be like everyone else it is not me.  Yes I know I will be made fun of and I have already had that happen but you know what I don't care. Also people might wonder about my faith nope still a Christian women yes having issues but that is a story for another time and really does not need to be out in public. And what women has not had struggles in their faith it just refines u.  It has taken me 20 years to really come to terms that my stalker and the threat of them still out there is not going to change me or keep me down.   God is in control not them.

My life in 2016 In Review

Well I decided to do a year in review for 2016 for my life.  Please don't take this as a brag as my year has had its ups and downs just like any other.  Just really wanted to point out the boring of this weirdo's life.

1.  My oldest spread his wings and flew the coop (1200 miles away).  He is doing very well even with the normal ups and downs of being an adult.
2.  Lost a job but got another one and I am so much more relaxed now.
3.  Financial more stretched but the Lord has provided.
4.  Parents lost their home in a bad fire.  But praise the Lord they and their landlord were ok.
5.  Married for now over 16 years and still going strong.
6.  Read over 125 books this year which was more than my goal (yes I read that many I am a speed reader)
7.  Did not lose very much weight but I am stronger and have slimmed down some.  (please don't tell me that muscle weighs more than fat as that is not true a pound is a pound just a pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat.  If you don't believe me then look it up for your self.)
8.  Some of my medical issues have stabilized more this year than in years past.
9.  Started to get to back into my art.
10.  Youngest son is doing better with his homeschooling (still rough at times but that's normal even public or private school kids have tough times)
11.  Turned 39 this year and looking forward to turning 40 next year.  I don't hide my age as I believe age is just a number.  Why do I say that I have met teens that act more like adults and have met older people that act more like toddlers.  It is all in how you act.
12. Lord showed me to be who he made me not to be a cookie cutter of those around me just to fit in.

And best of all the Lord is still on His throne no matter what is happening in the world or in my life.

Rants or complaints or just being honest

Possible toe stepping thoughts but mostly odd and funny.  Please enjoy this photo of my water glass my hubby bought me over a month ago.  Yes that is a skeleton in the background his name is skelly we used him to teach our son the bones.  Isn't the human body amazing if it wasn't for the skeleton we would be a blob.

I realize I have not done a rant/complaints in couple months but most of my rants are ones that need to be kept in my head otherwise people might take them the wrong way.  So here are some minor rants/complaints.

Rants/Complaints

1.  Putting on garage sales bites.  I love going to them but I almost make no money when we have them.  Just not good at them.

2.  Birthdays as an adult can suck.  My hubby decided this year for my birthday we were actually going to do something but then his phone broke so the little extra he was going to spend had to go to get him a new straight talk phone.   Birthday's for me just seem to be another day.  Truthfully when it comes to birthdays sometimes I miss being a kid for the parties and presents.  I know selfish but hey I am being honest.

3. Being left out and ignored is not fun.  Lets just leave that one at that.

4.  Not finding a nice pair of black jeans at the thrift store in your size is sad.  Yeah I know a small one but I would really like a pair of non-faded black jeans.

5.  The house is never completely clean.

6.  The weight is not coming off as quickly as I would like.

The Good
1.  My family loves me dearly.

2.  I will be 39 this month and my oldest will be 20 this month also.

3.  At the thrift stores I have been finding a few more funky styles that I like I can buy when I need the clothes.

4.  I have a home to clean been close to homeless before with my family I would rather not be that close to it again.

5.  Google play rocks I can have such a variety of music on it that I never know whats going to play on it.

6.  The weight may not be coming off that fast but I am getting thinner and stronger.

So here is a rant or complaints or good post for this quarter.

Punderdome - The Card Game

"Punderdome" is a card game that is all about puns.  What is a pun you may ask well it is the humorous use of a word or phrase so that it suggests different meanings or applications or using words that are alike or nearly alike in sound but different in meaning in another words a play on words.  Short and skinny version of how the games work is you have a white topic card and a green situation card one of each is chosen by the prompter who chooses from either 2 or more people who comes up with the best pun.  The person who comes up with the most won puns by the end of the game wins.  Here is an example of a pun that could be used in the game.  I am Poe at working out.  The topic was poetry and the situation was working out.  They don't have to be good and trust I love puns but I am not good at making them.  This is a very fun and challenging game I think its really good in a get to know each group setting.  I highly recommend this game for a fun group get together.

P.S. the only thing I would change though is don't use the amount of 90 seconds like they recommend as that is too hard give people some more time than 90 seconds.

I was given this book from Blogging For Books for my honest review and was not required to give a positive review.

Homeschooling Stereotypes

Ahh the life of a homeschooling mom.  Yep another weird thoughts from me that may step on toes.  So here goes.  Please read thru to the bottom to understand my point of this post.

Stereotypes - my truth
1.  Only homeschool - Nope my oldest graduated from public High school.  My youngest started homeschooling after 1st grade in public school.  Homeschooling is not a salvation issue so it may not be right for everyone.
2.  The homeschool uniform (long jean skirts, jumpers and if you have sons they are in a polo shirt and slacks) - Nope, jeans with black t-shirts, accessories that may have bats on them or studs or spikes, boots most of the time (and not the in style ones more like platform, or dr. martens style or studded type) and almost always wearing an old biker leather.  Yes I do still wear long jean skirts they are comfy to me.  My youngest son t-shirt and jeans, I think he might own one polo shirt but no slacks.
3.  Never read or listen to secular books or music.  - This one makes me laugh as my house we love to read lots of variety of books for example one I read recently for fun was on the funeral home industry and death (not including the one I just reviewed).  Music in my house is very varied our playlist might have a classical song, then a secular hard rock song, then Christian rap, then blues, then country, then a Hymn, then maybe a French song, and then who knows what the next song will be.  If a song is not blatantly anti-God we will  listen to it.  But be warned there are a lot of modern Christian music songs that are actually anti-Bible if you take them to the scriptures so those go thru big scrutiny also.
4. Die-Hard republican - nope die-hard independent as the republican party is no different from the democrats and its been that way for years not just recently.
5.  Does not work outside the home - I have a very part-time job to help pay for a few of our bills.
6.  Homeschooling is easy - Can I laugh my head off on that one.  Yeah right.  Yes there are easy days but then there on insanely hard days.  But over all its so worth it as his education levels have gone up so much more since we started homeschooling him and with my husband's work schedule he gets more time with our youngest.

Why did I share this because I am tired of seeing and hearing the attitude of all homeschool families fit into one little type of box.  No each family is different and we need to remember that as homeschoolers or even not homeschoolers.  Also as homeschoolers or any Christian we need to stop trying to fit the mold that our society either secular or Christian has set for us and be how God created us.  The only caveat is that it needs to be in line with scripture not against scripture.

You tube recommendation.

I am going to start a new type of post on my site which is you tube recommendations on which sites I like and why. My first one is one I was shocked to find out that does not have many viewers as the lady is wonderful.  She only has a little under 6,000 subscribers (I know that is a lot but not really in you tube land), She is so wonderful.  Her you tube name is The Glamorous Housewife.   She does things vintage with a modern twist.  I just love her site.  She is very relateable and professional with her videos.  I have gotten ideas from her and her site has been even an encouragement for me.  I love vintage things specially home decor and depending on my mood even some clothing but I like to add modern things to it.  Even my husband who does not like to cook (not all her videos are on cooking) likes to listen her videos with me. She does not even know I exist but I want to encourage her and for more people to see her wonderful videos.  So please go check out the The Glamorous Housewife on you tube and at http://theglamoroushousewife.com/.

People Idol rant

A possible toe stepping or sacred cow killing post.   Please enjoy my spacer photo of the I Love Lucy puzzle my family was working on until we discovered the table we were using was too small for it.

Still here well you can't say you were not warned.

I normally don't put posts about things that are in the news but a couple lately have been driving me nuts.
First why as Christian are we surprised when someone who has put themselves out in public as the perfect Christian person/family has cracks and sin in them.  Yes I am referring to the Duggar controversy. No family is perfect every family will have cracks in them not a one is perfect.  I used to watch them but a couple years ago I got really tired of you must be like us attitude and that our way is the perfect example for Christian families.  Well I am sorry I look to the scriptures for examples and not a one family we read in scripture was perfect (not even Jesus's family lineage remember Rahab was a prostitute and she is in his lineage). We need to stop putting people or families on a pedestal on how we should live and look to Christ not man as man will fail us  I will be praying for that family like I would for any of the families that will be touched by the particular website's hack (no I will not give anymore credence to a filthy sinful website that has been used by people to sin against God and their spouses).

Second politics yes the other item that can be part of Christian society idols.  You know what I am a conservative but not a republican (I am an independent).  I get so sick of the attitude if you are a Christian conservative you must be a Republican and vote for anyone who says they are a Christian.  Baloney I will vote my conscience not by party line.  Also I will not vote for a certain people just cause they say they are a Christian. Not everyone who says they are a Christian is one.   I mean really even the demons know who God is (James 2:19 "You believe that God is one; you do well.  Even the demons believe - and shudder!"),  Also  remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23 " Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’.  We are supposed to check what people say to the word of God.  So don't tell me who as a Christian I should vote for or what party I should vote for.

So what is my point?  My point is we need to stop grabbing for straws when we hear oh so and so is a Christian. So what, we need to put our eyes and focus on Christ not people that might be just saying they are a Christian to get votes or some other type of power. Stop with the making idols out of people and then get upset when our "heroes" are sinful people.  Paul in the scriptures even called himself the chief of sinners (I Timothy 1:15 "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.") But also remember this verse I John 1:9-10 " If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and his word is not in us."

Thank you had to get this rant of my chest.

Controversial Topic - Family Size

Just a quick thought of mine on family size.  Yep I am going to talk about the thought of letting God decide your family size.  Most people think if you let God decide your family size you will end up with over a dozen children or more.  Wrong, I am a prime example that is not true.  I have two boys with a 8 year difference between them both and then one child in heaven that I lost to a miscarriage when the youngest was about 1 and 1/2 years old.  We have let God decide our family size and he closed my womb when I was about 29 or 30 not long after the miscarriage.  Would I like to have more children yes I would but that is not in God's will for us.  I get really irritated when other Christian's that have let God decide give me the attitude oh you chose to only have two children here on earth you did not leave it to God.  Nope we left in God's hands.  Just because I don't have a large family doesn't mean that God is not in control.  Sometimes it seems like people don't remember that even in scripture not everyone had large families.  Seriously I don't remember reading that John the Baptist was the oldest of a large family (since Elizabeth was advanced in age I figured he was their only).   I understand that large families get looked down upon in Christian and Secular society. But small families have a tendency to get looked down upon by some in the Christian community but not so much in the secular society.  Its one of those things that not everyone is going to have a large family.  Also I mean seriously if God wanted to you to have children nothing can stop him neither birth control or even money if you are meant to adopt.  Also we should not look down on those that can't have any children.  I am thankfully I had my children young (I was barely 19 and almost 27 when I gave birth to my two sons) if I had waited until my 30's I would not have them.   Also there is nothing wrong with being single and not having children.  I just want Christians to look at couples or people with no children, a few children or lots of children the same way which is God has blessed them in His own way.

Mentoring Rant

Rant warning!  If you don't want to maybe be offended then please go find pictures of puppies or kittens or bats (ok bats are cute to me)
.
:)
:)
Here is even a space photo of my latest Goodwill rotation shoes.  Yes I know so 90's but I love them.

More Space

.
Picture of another Goodwill find except the buttons I added them.

.
.
Still here then if you get offended your problem not mine as I warned you.

I get so tired of hearing oh it is a good thing to be mentored or to mentor someone specifically in the Christian arena.  You know what it would nice if I knew how that felt.  Yes I was mentored as a teen but that was for a very short time by a former black panther party member (long story and yes I know odd since I am a pale white girl).  But as a Christian Woman I have never been mentored by another Christian woman or even mentored another woman. Yes I have tried to be mentored but since I am more of an introvert I get ignored easily. I have tried to mentor other women but most run from me as I am not your typical Christian woman I mean see some of my previous pictures that might give you some idea why and that is not including some of my views on topics that are not black and white in scripture.  So you know what I do I get mentored by books or podcasts of solid Christian women, like Elizabeth George, the ladies at Naomi's Table podcast, Equipping Eve on No Compromise Radio or you-tuber Alana L.  But sometimes I just want someone local that I can talk to.  I am not normal if I try to act like everyone around me then thats not me and I have to be how God created me.  Even if its the bat loving odd person I am.  Yes I know this post sounds angry but I am not angry just annoyed (yes there is a difference).  Yes I have put myself out there but usually I just get shot down. So I do the most important thing which is to cling to Christ.   But scripture talks about us being mentored and mentoring others it would just be nice for that to happen to us "weirdos".  Yes it may seem like I have given up on the mentoring thing maybe I have but I know I am not the only one who feels this way.
Rant Over

PS To my real life friends I still care for you, I just needed to vent and make people think.

Life Stages, Cliques and just life.

Rant Ahead

I have been thinking on life stages when it comes to friends and cliques lately.  As my oldest is getting ready to graduate high school and get into the workforce.  And my youngest is almost 11 so he will be leaving the nest in about 7 years.  It will be interesting for me as right now most of my friends are from my homeschool co-op and they have children that are younger than my youngest so they will be there longer than me. So I am in an odd stage of life when it comes to friends.  When I am outside of co-op or church most people rarely talk to me. I know part of it is that I don't have the money to go to all the events they do, my husband works nights so most women I know do things together during the day so that they don't take away from time with their spouses which is fine but for me during the day is when I spend time with my husband.  Plus I work part-time besides homeschool.  So friends are hard for me to come by.

Its sad how our society dictates age groups.  Most people don't think I am old enough to have an 18 year old (I am 37) so that catches peoples attention so that puts some people on the edge of not being sure about me. Then a lot of the people I graduated from high school with have younger children than I have or are just starting their families, so that makes it odd also.  Before you say put yourself out there to be a friend I am an introvert so that is hard for me to do.  Plus since I have always been on the odd side of life most people don't like to be around me.  I have never fit into any group but why should I have to as groups divide people.   Also I have been burned so many times by people just being nice to my face and then I actually hear them making fun of me or talking bad about me or my family behind my back.  And yes I am talking Christian women sometimes their cattiness is worse than any others.  I don't fit the  stereotypical, crafty, latest style type homeschool Christian mom.  Seriously on the fashion note I am wearing a biker leather jacket I got from a pawn shop and sometimes with studded cuff bracelet I got from the Goodwill, so not considered the normal Christian homeschool mom style. I can be blunt, the Lord has worked with me on this one trust me I am not as blunt as I used to be, I am still a work in progress.  So where do I go from here in this stage of my life for friends?  I am thankful for my husband and my best friend that I have had since high school they take me for who I am not what others think I should be.  But how many other women out there like me who don't have a spouse or at least one good friend.  They still crave fellowship with others just like I do.  I just wish women would be more open to friends that are different from their normal group.    We should not as adult women act like the high school cliques still exist (which is funny since even in high school I did not fit in completely with any cliques the only one that really kinda of let me in the most was the stoners even though I was not a drug user or a drinker.)  Especially Christian women cliques should not exist yes we can have close friends but not exclude others just cause they are different or in a different place in their walk with Jesus. Are we as Christian women showing John 13:35" By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." or are we just showing love to "loveable" people in our lives or to the "unlovable & loveable" non-believers.  But not showing love to the "non loveable" believers that we personally know.  We need to show love to all.

Thank you for reading my rant.

Asthma rant

Rant ahead.  Asthma the blown off disease.  What do I mean by blown off disease?  What I mean is that most people think its not a big deal and just blow it off.  It gets on my nerves as a parent with a child that suffers from Asthma and not the form most people are used to (he doesn't wheeze just coughs or his throat sucks in).  Yes I know I go on and on about this but its important to me.  I almost lost my youngest due to undiagnosed asthma which long story short he had a lung started to collapse so he ended up in our states children's hospital in ICU (by life flight) for about 2 days then in the normal portion for a couple more days (don't ask exact days as it was about 5 years ago).  Since then I have had so many people actually shocked that I make him carry his asthma inhaler in a fanny pack that when he remembers it, he carries all the time.   Anyway back to the topic. Asthma is not something to be messed with. Asthma does kill people yes not as many as it did before the invent of inhaler medicine but it still does (deaths per 100,000 population 1.1 via the CDC website).  It is not something to just blow off.  I am tired of people acting like its no big deal it is.  Yes some people can keep it under control or only have some minor attacks but not everyone is like that.  It took us a couple of years to figure out what cause most of my sons triggers which are all four of the common triggers which illness, exercise, food (yes it can trigger attacks food coloring is a big one for my son), or environmental.  However he still will have attacks that flare up for no reason.  Before you still think its no big deal think about all of sudden having to gasp for air and can't catch a breath its not fun.  The reason why I am going over this is that I was thinking of how society is so not understanding or even knowledgeable about asthma now days. I am just tired of the attitude its no big deal its not like heart problems or physical disabilities. But it can be a very serious issue not to be taken lightly.   So please if someone tells you that they have asthma or their child does, do not blow them off or ignore them.  I take this issue very seriously as it is close to my heart. I do understand how it feels to have asthma because as a child I had it also but mine was just from exercise and being around smokers. Also I did not have severe attacks but I still take it seriously.  So again please don't blow off asthma like its just a paper cut.

Rant over.

Look back at 2014 and forward to 2015

Well this year I am going to start with a typical type post reviewing things in my life from last year.  Then put goals for 2015 down.
2014
  1. Walked the Color Run in May.
  2. MIL moved out in August.
  3. Family member had major stroke and heart attack in the end of August.
  4. Learned major lesson on dealing with extreme hoarders don't ever I mean ever let them while in the hospital say its ok to get rid of stuff.  The are not thinking straight.  Even if you think its a good idea its not!  Yes we cleaned some trust me not enough but it is all back to that way again and we still get complaints about stuff that was buried and broken we got rid of but they decided now the items were wanted.
  5. Thanks to the hoarder lesson I have been on kick to purge my house I don't want to do that to my family.
  6. Started working on getting in better shape even lost about 20 pounds that is hard for someone with Hypothryoidism and cause of my past weight issues its also a mental game for me.
  7. Started wearing pants again.  The story behind that was my hubby bought me a pair to wear so I could go hunting with him without getting caught in the branches.  Anyway I was hiking in the hills with him and realized my hip did not pop out once while hiking like it usually did.  See my hips have a tendency to pop out easily.  So we decided that I need to wear pants again on and off since they do help with keeping my hips in place.
  8. Learned that crazy people are still crazy no matter how nice you are.
  9. Learned how precious my kids are.  For Christmas this year I was blown away by their kind attitudes about gifts. Our oldest only wanted headphones to replace the ones his brother broke and clothes.  Our youngest told me that we got him too many gifts, we only got him a Bach cd (he loves classical music) and 3 new lego sets (2 small ones and a medium one, Amazon around Christmas has an excellent lego sale for my lego loving friends).  I was just blown away by them.
  10. Was reminded on how very blessed I am by my hard working hubby (works 40 hours a week or more depending on the time of year with a swing shift job) who when we need extra money will do odd jobs or sell things so that I can still homeschool, go to our homeschool co-op, and only work very part-time.
2015
  1. Continue to declutter my house and keeping it clean.
  2. Continue are my getting in better shape.  I want to be stronger and healthier and down to my final goal weight of 160 by my 40th birthday which is in 2017.
  3. Be in the scriptures more this year.
  4. Walk more.
  5. Watch my oldest graduate High School.
  6. Stay away from family drama as much as possible.
  7. Try to make more closer local friends
  8. As much as possible stay away from crazy.
  9. Keep a better positive/negative attitude.  Yes a person has to be negative sometimes but not all the time.
  10. Keep up on my reading and staying off the computer.
My goals are not big ones or ones that I will completely do this year (well one I will be able complete this year) but ones I can work on all year.

May the Lord bless you this year.

Weird post/thought

This is just a weird post and thought.  Well after ten years of being skirts and dresses only while rarely ever wearing pants I am back to wearing jeans on and off.  A couple months ago  my hubby bought me a pair of pants from Goodwill to wear while hunting with him.  Well anyway while I was hiking around with him and it dawned on us that my hip did not pop out of place once while hiking like it usually does when I wear skirts hiking or walking a lot.  So now I am back to wearing jeans but  I still wear skirts and dresses.  Now when we went to Goodwill and Walmart around the same time to buy a couple of cheap pairs at first I was like ugh I will have to deal with low waist jeans not knowing that they would work best for me.  Ok women's high waisted jeans have always been to short in the legs for me so in the past I used to only buy jeans in men's before going skirts only.  I have a weird shape, long legs and long torso with broad shoulders (men's clothes used to fit me better than women's even when I was anorexic as a teen I know weird).  So I was shocked that the style of low waisted women's jeans actually fit me very well and are modest for me (shirts are still an issue getting them long enough so I just layer but that was problem when I was skirts only also).  Such a blessing.   I know odd out there post but I just wanted to post this.

Just a thought post nothing big

Yep my very few readers I have posted very little already this month. Be warned this is scattered brained for me.  For some reason I have gotten into a funk where I am not wanting to read plus lots of other things have been happening in my life right now (for example my washer is about dead and this is the time of the year our vehicles have minds not like to run very well if at all) and I just don't want to write either.  We all get into a funk sometime in their life. I am still trying to put myself out there and be a friend which is hard since I am introvert. Some days its harder than other days as it seems like I have more acquaintances friends than close friends.  Cause of our schedules and finances I can't do a lot of the things like other moms I know do.  When other mom's are available to get together I am usually at work or its when my husband is off work.  Besides I don't run in the same circles as most of the women I know except at our home school co-op.  I have always been an odd duck and it usually does not bother me until I get into a funk.  Then I really miss having close friends near by as my best friend lives in another state. And she understands my weirdness and all my odd likes. I am though very blessed to have a husband who is also my best friend. Just sometimes us women just need another woman to talk to or hang out with.  I remember I must cling to Christ and I do.  I wanted to write this as I know we all go through this at one time or another but we have a tendency not to talk about it as we want to put out the good things and not mention the hard times in life.

Trying something new.

I have decided to try something new by adding video's to my blog. This first one is just a preview of the books I am reading.   I am not sure if I will ever film myself this is taking a huge step for me by just doing this one.

I hope you enjoy and if you don't oh well.

Update on my weight loss/getting healthier journey

Ok I haven't update in awhile on my health journey so here goes.  I have lost about 8 pounds since May.  Yeah I know not much but I am doing better with exercise and diet.  Thankfully all my blood work is good and I am healthy except some unseen health issues (not related to my weight one I have had for over 20 years).  I know its going to be struggle and will take time as I am post menopausal (I know for a 36 year old woman that's crazy but it is genetic) and have a low thyroid. Also I have a had stressful last couple months.  I know no excuses but I am learning.  Also I have to keep a mental hold that it is not going to be easy otherwise I have tendency to revert back to my anorexic days.  Yes I did say anorexic days see I was anorexic before I got pregnant with my oldest as soon as I found out I was pregnant with him I knew his health was more important than me being skinny and I started eating.  I still struggle with seeing my self 3 times bigger than I am so its a constant mental battle.  One thing that has been helping is getting back to my normal style which is odd in its own way but it makes me take the time and I have to work out some so my favorite clothes will fit correctly.  Also I want to be healthy for my family.  So anyway that's my health update.

Just 18 Summers by Rene Gutteridge & Michelle Cox

"Just 18 Summers" by Rene Gutteridge & Michelle Cox is a very good book to remind us that our children are only with us for a short time and to spend time with them.  I really liked this book to the point I would love to see a separate book about each of the different families portrayed in the book.  First family is of Butch a man who tragically lost his wife and now is trying to be dad and mom to his children. Second family is Beth's who happens to be Butch's sister in law, she and her husband are learning how to deal with soon to be an empty nest family and deal with Beth's sisters death.  Then we have Helen. Beth's neighbor and friend, who wants her family to be perfect must learn that no family can or will be perfect.  Finally we have Tippy who is pregnant with her first child and wondering how to be a mom.  We also have the viewpoints of the husbands but to me I was more interested in the viewpoint of the mothers (except in Butch's case). Now I  will admit I was not getting into the book at first cause I am not a fan of multiple stories but as I kept reading I really got into the story.

I think part of the reason I got into the story is my oldest will be 18 in a month and it really brings to life what I have been thinking this summer.  Which is that this may be my last summer with him before he starts his life completely without us.  Its not been a summer of just hanging as he has an almost full-time job but since he doesn't have his driver's license (I know weird but he loves to walk and can walk to almost everything he needs to go except work) different people in the family have been giving him rides.  During these rides to and from work its been nice to connect with him about his life and his future.  This book for me was another reminder that time is short with our kids and to take advantage of it even if that means the house is a mess or other things don't get done.

Honesty

Honesty on my old posts I am not going to go back and review to delete an old post.  You will learn I have changed and my eyes have been ope...
